My AI Rules

Thirteen chapters are behind you. You saw what AI does well and what it does badly.

This is the last one. Now you decide your own rules.

First you sorted four jobs. Some had an answer, some did not.

Why do your own homework? Because AI gives the answer, and you stay the same.

Then the nine rules. All of them true, so picking three is hard.

It should be hard. You are deciding what matters most to you.

Save the card as a picture and put it up by your desk.

Come back in a month and pick again. You may choose different ones.

A little deeper

For grown-ups, and for children who want more.

There is a reason the child picks the rules. A list of bans collapses the moment no adult is watching. A rule you chose yourself stays.

The nine rules were not invented. Each one puts into words something the child actually went through in the previous thirteen chapters, and the number on each card is a bridge back to that moment. A lecture about something you never experienced does not stick.

Allowing only three is a deliberate constraint. All nine are true, so the child has to decide what to leave out. That judgement is the single piece of thinking this chapter asks for.

The step about leaving a job to AI or doing it yourself is not scored. One of the four, choosing colours, has no right answer at all, and adding ticks and crosses would make a child chase the answer instead of thinking.

Come back in a month and they may pick a different three. That is correct. Children grow, and AI changes.
